Hair has always played an important social and cultural role from Delilah's biblical barbering of Samson to more modern moptops, mullets and mohicans.

Sound artists Zoë Irvine and Mark Vernon, in collaboration with Glasgow designers Freight, present Hairwaves, an audio journey from the fringes of radio to the cutting edge of sound art.

Hairwaves is a commissioned sound art CD, featuring recordings of staff from Freight Design and The Bridge Advertising in Glasgow, wig makers, pet groomers, a psychic barber, hairdressers and hair establishments in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland; Montreal, Canada; Habas, France; and Salvador, Brazil, made between 2001 – 2006.
